About Gordy and Historical Re-Creations
Following graduation from Miami Military Academy and study at Corcoran Gallery of Art, Gordon M. Callison's intense interest in the details of the design and inner workings of mechanical devices led him into a long career of cabinet making, machining and
tool making.
Shortly before retirement, Gordy's drawing skills re-emerged in an effort to preserve the memory of local water-powered gristmills he observed falling into ruin. He created a small business called "Gordy's Mills" which evolved into "Historical Re-Creations." Discovering his unique ability to represent sites in a bird's eye view in extraordinary detail, he added the trademark of "Living Scenes a Century or Two Ago" as he began to include aspects of daily life in historical eras to his drawings.

The scope of Gordy's re-creations include many historic sites, mills, villages, homes and farms in Maryland and neighboring states. His wife Sandy, a graduate of Elmira College and a former elementary school teacher, works with him in producing extensive pen and ink art work.
